Gapless playback is sorely missing
Various applications over time have come and gone with this feature, and it's always disappointing when a new platform is introduced that doesn't have it. Makes it very jarring to listen to albums which are supposed to be listened to as a whole.
Please import the crossfade feature that Windows Media Player has had since the early noughties and iTunes now has.
The crossfade feature will allow songs on the Now Playing list to be seamlessly joined thus removing the awkward silence between songs when played in parties.
When building a play list from recorded live music it would be useful to have a quick way to start playing a song after the opening, or stop playing before the closing, applause.
Having that one/two second gap between songs is not fun, specially in parties. It would be great if you could have a 10-20 auto blend between songs so there is no gap ever of music.
I wish we had an app taking my playlist and Shuffle the Songs in a way we could have one single track (like in Discos) from one song to the other one without the gab inbetween, Kind of an Auto-DJ-App
Thanks for your feedback! This would be a good feature to add. Keep those ideas and votes coming!
This is really embarassing not having gapless playback!!!
Because there is the same idea already in existence: PLEASE TRANSFER YOUR VOTES TO THIS IDEA: http://xboxmusic.uservoice.com/forums/209733-xbox-music-suggestion-box/suggestions/5791730-gapless-playback

And 10 months later, who knows how many updates to the Music+Video app, a whole new version of Windows Phone (which is great, by the way) still no gapless playback.
To be fair, pretty much nothing else works either on the new Xbox Music app, but still...

Make it gapless by cross fade transitioning between songs
Please add gapless playback ASAP. It's just embarrassing not having it. Even the cheapest ***** mp3 players have gapless playback.
I try to recommend Microsoft products to friends and family and when features like this are missing I just get laughed at. Really? Microsoft still thinks this isn't important? Unbelievable!
Seriously, how is this STILL not included?

No gapless playback is a fundamental fail, IMO!
So after updating my windows phone to 8.1, I had high hopes for the Xbox music app but my dreams where crushed when I discovered that Microsoft and the Xbox music team has some how made broken app even worse!!!
-Still no gapless playback
-Album covers fails to show
-No album title when playing
-No live tile
-No swipe to skip tracks
and the list goes on and on...
Microsoft should be embarrassed by this clusterfuck. The only thing this app wants to do is force people to pay for a music pass.
Absolutely need this to listen to Live Albums !!!
still not 100% supported in 8.1!!!
and if you add gapless playback, please consider adding true crossfading support. WMP and iTunes both have this, and to not have it on Windows Phone is like going back in time 15 years or more.
After waiting patiently for so many years for this feature I'm really excited to think that this might finally get fixed in WP 8.1 coming out later this year...

I should be able to listen to albums like Music of the Spheres by Mike Oldfield or Calling All Dawns by Christopher Tin without any silences or audio glitches at track change. It should not be discernible when it actually changes track in these albums.
I totally agree... it's totally unforgivable that you can't even play gapless Window Media Audio file albums on this Window App. The last decent media player from Windows was Windows Media Player 11... Windows Media Player 12 stopped reading WAV file properties correctly and now we've even lost gapless play. Poor show Windows.
I agree! I've just put a 64gb card in my Lumia 820 and bunged all my music on it with the intention of getting rid of my iPod. Went out for a run last night and came back with a right proper sulky face! This isn't something we should even need to request, very surprised when I heard gaps I could drive a bus through during Mew's 'And The Glass Handed Kites' where all the tracks normally flow into each other. Bummer, iPod stays for now :(

We need this asap!
