The ability to upload and playback my music from an online location (the cloud)
After using Google Music and experiencing the convenience of having all of my personal music live online, I can't go back to any other service. Here are some of the advantages that I found using Google Music over Xbox Music:
1.) All of my songs are available. Because I collect B-Sides and other rare songs for even famous artists, Xbox Music's cloud matching doesn't find a lot of my music.
2.) Having my music online is the only solution for devices with limited storage like my phone or on devices such as the Xbox where the built-in Music app doesn't recognize physical songs on the hard drive. I don't have the option of physically transferring my music to various devices.
3.) I am old fashioned in that I still physically like buying CDs. Ripping a CD, uploading it to a cloud service that doesn't downsample the music too much, and having it available across all of my Windows and iOS devices is fantastic.
I feel that Xbox Music is really pushing the subscription angle, and I think that is great. The downside is that for songs that you can't get via the subscription, the option for uploading them should be provided.
Online chatroom based portal where users can share there video music lists, sound tracks, meditation lists, yoga music, alternative lists (apart from creating a public radio lists through an api)..Ability to access existing itunes radio/google play/pandora/youtube playlists..ability to select the music files from the userlists of playlists/files is the key.
imagine a dropbox/box account accessing and creating a virtual folder which syncs to your account.hence if you could create a public sharable server folder which gives users the freedom to sync to personal harddisks or an ftp account .
The Xbox music app should be able to figure out that if you have cloud-matched songs to music kept on an external drive and you unplug that drive, to just play them from the cloud instead of complaining about not finding the media.
This is extremely frustrating because whenever I take my surface pro on the go and don't have my external USB 3.0 HDD with all of my music on it, Xbox music won't play anything except for what I haven't downloaded yet. It's supposed to be cloud-matched! I should be able to play it whether I have it locally or not!
Love to have 360s music player system on One. It's free and my music stuff I might not find on Xbox music. I could play music with my games without issue.you guy are great designers but sometimes greatness has already been achieved. Unless it's for money then I sorry you have to sink so low. I'm here to play good games & listen to my music while I do this on Xbox one it's why I go gold for more than ten yrs now. Fix this no excuses
Why can I not add music to my collection that I own and is not available in the xbox music collection? I have rare eps and demos that I cannot get on xbox music and I cannot add them to my cloud. It would be great if Windows 7 could run Xbox Music and this service opened up outside of windows 8.
The Xbox Music App REALLY REALLY needs to be able to allow music FROM the app to Desktop. I say if Xbox Music App is missing something, that's what it's missing. You really SHOULD be able to sync music from the Music App (that you already DON'T have in Desktop; so, obviously you added them to your collection in Music App) to Desktop. I add music to my collection for free, so PLEASE PLEASE allow that! Thank you.
There should be a more personalized way to handle importing playlist and to importing to cloud. The song management is so frustrating and time consuming. Why can I not select songs and playlist individually to import to cloud or playlist? Then its ironic that you have to delete them individually. Xbox music indiscriminately uploads whatever music to your cloud..You will have thousands of songs in your limited storage that you never wanted there at all. Then spend hours deleting them one by one by one. I really was looking for a service to replace spotify but I'll have to stick with it for now.
I would love to beble to take music I might have purchased in CD form and upload it the cloud (my collection) this way I have access to it on all my devices instead of having to upload this music to each indiviual device this way its where ever and when ever I need it. This would be great especially for songs that I can't get on XBOX Music but I might have the song from another source.
Youguys should make a feature where people can upload their music from their phones to xbox, and be able to listen to their music while playing games.
Xbox Music is a great App but i need to have an Xbox Music Pass to listen
my own Music from the SkyDrive Cloud on the XBOX One is a rip off ?!
Please modify or offer another App!
Half of my stuff doesn't "match" whats in your marketplace. What does match, sometimes matches wrong or is missing songs from the album.
If I could just upload my own stuff to have in my cloud, i would pay the 10 bucks a month. The way it stands now I will not be continuing after my trial.
If I can't listen to ALL my music I have purchased on CD, from i tunes, from Amazon, from Google, etc.... on all my devices (PC, Android phone, Xbox one) then there is no use in paying the fee.
I guess i will continue to use Google music, and if I really need to listen to music while using my xbox one, well I will connect my phone to a speaker.
I live in Canada and have German CD's that I cannot upload and play because of Microsoft legal license issues. Service is rendered useless when you can't play your own music in the cloud when its not supported. iTunes Match does this much better when you can upload your own music instead of depending on music that's the Microsoft library.
Unsubscribed until fixed.
So I thought this music pass was me sending my music to the cloud. Well that's not true. I have over 300 albums and i'd say a 100 or so won't "sync to the cloud" because you don't have them in the marketplace. Some of the albums that did sync are missing songs.
You should not advertise that you are putting your music on the cloud. That is not the case at all. You tell microsoft what you have and if all the stars align then it will be in "your" cloud.
This is a horrible service. Google play is much better. The only reason I tried this is because I got an Xbox one. In theory its a cool concept, but it works horribly!!!!!!!!!
I have music files on my pc that i can not manage to get onto xbox music on my pc. They are songs that I would like to listen to and xbox music doesn't have them in their database, so I can't add them to a playlist on my xbox music account.
I have thousands of songs at home that I have collected with albums I have bought for many years. Currently, Xbox Music cloud collection only syncs by matching those songs in their database that they have "rights" to stream. This means a lot of my music at home isn't actually available on other devices via the cloud. Beatles for example, I have 4 albums of theirs. Not a single one is available in my cloud collection.
With all those Xbox servers you guys bought, we should be able to upload 20-30 GB of music to our ACTUAL "Cloud Collection." I shouldn't have to manually add all my music to each device. Otherwise, whats the point of a cloud collection.
You really need a dedicated partition of SkyDrive just for music. That would be an extremely powerful feature. And it should be part of the Xbox Music subscription. Not an additional fee. Google already does this.
Absolutely necessary – NON-MATCHED ALBUMS. We need the ability to access albums in our personal collection that do not have a match on xbox’s catalogue.
-Skydrive integration? Tie skydrive into the xbox music mobile and web apps. Maybe designate a folder in skydrive “Music”? that syncs with the cloud collection and we are able to play these albums with mobile and web apps.
-Upload to xbox music? If skydrive isn’t logical, allow us to buy cloud space on xbox music.
I neeeed this feature, and I am sure other people do as well. Having one source for all of our music is a must.
Music Upload via PC in my account and via Cloud Sync is avalaible in my All Platforms!
Where is the auto-upload option for songs that are unmatched because they're unavailable on the Xbox Music Store? I have lots of CD's that aren't available on the Xbox Music Store, and yet there is no way to get them on my Cloud Collection. All the other major competing music stores already offer this. This was mentioned before that it would utilize some kind of data space on a personal SkyDrive account. So where is the option? This was mentioned over a year ago. Paul Thurrott even had a clip of the announcement:
"Cloud Storage. Available in the coming year, a scan-and-match feature will take you beyond the 30 million tracks globally offered through Xbox Music. It will add all the music you own to your Xbox Music cloud catalog, including music acquired through other services. This means you can add almost any content you have to your personal Xbox Music collection, **even if it’s not available in the Xbox Music catalog.**" (emphasis: mine)
What's frustrating is that I even have albums that were purchased on iTunes in their entirety, but because of licensing, the matched albums are missing some of the tracks on Xbox Music, making the Cloud Collection incomplete. That's just plain stupid. But with an auto-upload feature as mentioned previously, it wouldn't be a problem since it would just auto-upload those missing tracks.
Now, I could upload songs to SkyDrive manually, and they do play through the SkyDrive app on Windows Phone 8, but why can't you download any music in the WP8 app?? Likewise, there is no option to open media from a SkyDrive account in the current Xbox Music app, nor the in-box Music+Videos app for WP8.
Add my songs on the playlists if they don't exist in xbox music and find it every where
I would like a better interface for managing music in the cloud versus music on my PC within the Windows 8.1 desktop app. There seems to be no method for removing cloud music within the app. There are several songs that I don't know where they came from and I had to go to the web app to remove them. Also, a method to multi-select these songs to remove them is most desirable.
Discovering new music is not a pressing concern for me. Playing my music is, however, an interest. I have an 18k song library, at least 1/3rd of which it appears is absent from your catalog (including little known artists like The Beatles, David Bowie, and a shocking amount of Beck even - just to stick with some "B"s). Also anything from a "various artists" compilation is usually unmatched.
I'd really just like a decent music locker service, such as is offered by other firms, including those guys who also sell books just a few miles from Redmond.
1) The fact that there is no bulk upload of my "unmatched" music is unfortunate and an odd omission. 34 album-at-once upload just to get my Beatles up there? Really?
2) That would even be OK if my Xbox one could play music from my home network (a bizarre omission). I mean, I can "play to" the XB1 from PC, but it would be much nicer if the xbox interface would just support it.
Personal opinion: you guys are missing an incredible opportunity to give users a product that can unify their music across all their devices in favor of flogging a "me-to" (and only marginally competitive feature-wise) internet radio product.
It would be awesome if users had the ability to add Mixtapes and other forms of music that aren't commercially available to the cloud
Thanks for your feedback! I’ll send this one to our cloud collection team.
I would like to see Windows Phone users have their entire music collection matched and available from OneDrive at no storage penalty. If there's a song not in the database (Girl From Ipanema Goes to Greenland (12" Remix) is one example), then stream that from my OneDrive. Do not try to match it without informing me that something didn't match. Just say "xyz did not match the database. Do you want to upload it to your OneDrive for streaming?" and let us confirm, or change the metadata.
But never automatically change metadata. And let us play our entire music collections from within OneDrive. Add a folder called Music and let us view our entire collection there.
I uploaded my Music to OneDrive. The W8 and RT Music App can Play them. The XboxOne and WindowsPhone Music App can´t.
Please update These both to be able to Play Music from OneDrive!
I seem to like nearly all the bands (AC/DC, Metallica, Beatles etc.) that Xbox Music doesn't support & the other half it doesn't recognise. This seriously limits how useful this is; so instead of being able to ditch the Ipod in favour of my Windows Phone I've got to cart both around if I want to listen to everything I own.
This suggestion is very good and would make a world of difference.
How about I rip my CDs or Amazon purchases to OneDrive and play from there?
This is my most requested feature. Many similar feature requests (see below; totaling 39 votes) are asking for a similar thing. That is, access to personal music collection - music that is not part of the Xbox Music ecosystem.

If Google an Amazon have it, Xbox should have it, too. Microsoft has the infrastructure for it. One Microsoft, OneDrive... Giving Xbox Music access to my cloud storage (on Windows and all other devices) would generate a consistent user experience.
When will this come ......
I switched to Xbox music from Google Music a few months back because I wanted a way to listen to music on my TV and this was a simple way to do it. BUT! Without being able to upload the songs that you guys don't have to match I am seriously considering going back to Google Music and just buying a ChromeCast for 30 bucks and calling it a day. So add this feature and add it quick!
Also, make it where I can listen to Xbox Music on the Xbox One when playing a game. Similar to how the local media playback could be done on the 365 while playing games.

Yessssss I actually bought a Music Pass because I thought it would enable me to synchronize songs across devices even when they have no match in the Xbox Music collection. Google allows this, you say? I will investigate. I really love the Windows 8 ecosystem and I know it's early days, but because I listen to a lot of music made by my friends and fan community, pretty much nothing is in the Collection. Chucking the files onto Skydrive is prohibitively data-hungry, and manually transferring them to my phone/between devices is annoying as buggery since I got used to the wonders of OneDrive cloud synchronizing. I work across two PCs and a Windows Phone so auto-sync with a personal online collection would be ideal.
Yes, please add this feature and I will quit Google immediately!
I would be great to upload songs the songs that are not recognized to OneDrive and have them show up on your devices..

DO go to this suggestion and read. Vote if u like ABUSE IF U dont :))
This feature is the only service I use google for. Make it available on Xbox music and I'll leave the evil empire far, far behind. Until then, they have all my CDs and I don't use Xbox music at all.
This is an absolute must. The fact that Google does it today, and for FREE. This would also solve many of the very quirky sync rules between W8 and WP8 that don't make any sense.

I agree here. I have lots of obscure songs like Innocent, by Bond, and the "Girl from Ipanema Goes to Greenland" Remix Single by the B-52's, which XBM doesn't match, synch, or play.
Seriously, a full year to review this? It should only take 30 seconds, 25 to hear it out and 5 seconds to respond: YES, we absolutely need to provide this feature.
Hi Rebecca, how long do you expect this feature to be under review? It's been 10 months. Is it going all the way up to the board of directors or something?

This. If there was one thing Microsoft could do for Xbox Music IT IS THIS. Uploadable cloud storage and a music match service.
This is why I have not purchased a pass, and just stick to locally ripped/stored music.

^This! I would put all 9 votes if I could. I have some songs and albums that are not in the music store that I was told I could not sync to the cloud. Would love to store this so its available to all my devices. (WP8, Surface, and other PCS on my account.

A million times this. Plus this could give us the ability to have non store matched content in playlists that sync.
